Giclee Prints- Fact or Fiction
Many Americans love to display artwork in their homes. Some prefer landscapes of Old America while others prefer towering skyscrapers lined in Chicago. While some may prefer portraits of family members past and present, others like to see rock gods from their favorite bands hanging on their walls. Any way you put it, original paintings from artists can be very expensive. An alternative to these original masterpieces is giclee printing. With this, an artist can create a painting and then have it digitized and meticulously copied over and over again to make more money.
Some people find no problem in this because they can finally afford to have a master artist’s classic work in their home. However, some people see these as frauds. If you can afford an original and think it’s important that it is genuine, purchase an original. But, if you see the true beauty in a painting and want to share it with people who walk into your home every day, a giclee is a fine substitute that looks so authentic, even up close it is hard to notice it is actually a copy. No one complains about photo reproductions, why waste your breath on a painting reproduction?

Computers and Art
Computers have managed to cause major changes in just about every industry. The landscape in just about any line of work has been completely overhauled by the availability of computers to do repetitive tasks, quickly retrieve information, send messages globally, and perform tasks that are dangerous for humans. The changes can even be seen in areas that wouldn’t necessarily come to top of mind such as for police officers where the availability of computers right in there cars helps them research potentially criminal issues quickly and allows the quick dissemination of all points bulletins.
One are though where such change has been much more visible has been in the arts with advances such as computer generated sculptures and giclee printing pieces. With giclee printing the most popular fine art prints can be distributed in digital format and replicated in volume so as to be enjoyed in far more homes, business, and public place than was possible before. The newest trend in this development is the availability of fine art giclee printing a practice which is making works that once cost so much the average person couldn’t own such a piece affordable. This is great for the artist as the original will still fetch large money but it also allows them to get much further reach with their works.

Affordable high quality printing technology is finally under reach.
With the introduction of a combination of dye sublimation technique and computerized printers, the sign industry will have more than ever the tools needed to make cost effective, reliable prints, for a fraction of the cost it took years ago.
The sign industry devours tons of material and ink resources, trying to reproduce as high as possible the quality of images, which are later using for the creations of banners, flags, billboard and just any conceivable form of outdoor advertising.
The new Velotex Xpress system, developed by US Sublimation, a division of PrintVillage, Inc., literally cuts the middleman offering in one system the chores performed by large scale printers, such as two sided printing, wide format and more.
The new process guarantees extended lifespan on the final product; this is a key selling point for medium sized print houses, who seek to expand their portfolios with more printing options, while keeping the prices competitive.
Computer software and special designed hardware make the perfect mix for this new machine; the printing times are shorter, and so is the drying period, thanks to the solvent based solution used.
This new and exciting way to print is readily available on the US.

Cultural evolution exhibits at the UMKC.
An artistic experience for those who look beyond perfection. The evolution of Japanese art is well portrayed at the Fine Arts Gallery.
The evolution of mankind has taken it’s own time and pressure. The slow process surpassing over millions of years can be felt only by the art and giclee printings of evolution which only some have taken it as a profession to show the changing world.
Through these million years the man has transformed from a hunter to a civilized person and from being uncultured to an abstract thinker. With this kind of thinking he is able to blend cultures of different kinds too. The best way to show a blending of cross culture and get the fruits of blending culture is showing and presenting in the form of fine art prints or giclee printing, or canvas art.
The UMKC has always been a very good sport supporting and embracing these kind of culture to be portrayed in their own campus.
Artists nowadays have learnt to diversify and get a personal touch to every art they create. They are moving away from the traditional art to modern methods of art.
Roger Shimomura is a person who very boldly combined two art forms and two cultures into one to create an abstract pop art which confronts prejudices and racism.
This cross culture and oneness exhibition is there to stay and as long as people boldly create oneness in their paintings there will be someone like the UMKC who will always standby to help.

The wonders of fine-art nature photographs.
Michael Calvo is a fine art nature photoprapher who specializes on scenic photographs without the involvement of human pictures, figures, or architecture. His photographs are regularly on sale and exibits. His photos basically involves nature and it’s natural beauty.
He blends nature with animals and his photos are absorbing and intimate. It’s like watching a program in the National Geography channel. His inspiration came from his father who used to run a photo lab. His father gave him a camera when he was just 10 years old and his first pictures were the rosebushes which his mother used to keep in her garden.
At the Prizery, his fine art giclee printing took the stage and he also hung a few work of his fin art prints at the Parsons-Bruce Gallery where his paintings over shadowed all others and stood as the one-man show.
His canvas-printed photographs and singularly beautiful images pulled in people just to have a glimse at his work of giclee printing.
The Executive Director of the Prizery Chris Jones was so overwhelmed with his art that he wanted to buy some for his own collection.
The more information you want and if you are not able to visit the Prizery as his exhibits normally are put up there, you can surely visit his website which is www.michaelpcalvo.com.

A Man, spared from death by the Nazi’s because of his artistic talent, will be honored in Saudi Arabia
There have been some very strange stories, but honoring a Polish painter in Saudi Arabia is pretty odd. The story that describes the actions that took place for this to happen is a story of coincidences. It starts with Ann Goodrich, a wife of a teacher at the University of Toledo who decided to go with her husband to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. She is a huge collector of art, and especially liked the art of Adam Grochowski Grant, a Polish artist that survived Nazi internment camps. She used giclee printing, a high quality ink jet copies, to make copies of his art so that she would not damage the originals in transit to Saudi Arabia.
Once in Saudi Arabia, she realized that one of the only things that she could do was dinner dates with other high ranking woman in the country. Through this she met Olga Kulach, the wife of the leader of the Polish Embassy, and she encouraged Olga to hang up Adam’s art inside the embassy. So stricken with the emotion of the art, Mr. Kulach decided that he would like to honor Adam and his artwork. So that is why there will be a honorary showing of his art as well as a special dinner to honor this famous Polish artist in Saudi Arabia.

Artist Christopher Mize Uses Wine in His Giclee Painting
Goochland County artist Christopher Mize makes amazing original oil paintings and embellished giclees (inkjet prints from a digital source) of wine related subjects such as bottles and accessories. His work will be featured at the Virginia Wine Expo and may also been seen in various Richmond galleries and restaurants.
Mize is a self-taught artist whose oil paintings are done by applying the paint “impasto”, or very thickly. He has even been told that his paint surface resembles cake icing, it is so thick. He uses this paint thickness to build up the painting’s surface to add expression to each work. Mize prefers oil paints to other acrylics or watercolors because he says they stay true in texture and color and add definition to the painting’s surface. His main subjects are California and Virginia wines, but musical instruments are occasionally included as well.
While his original oil paintings are painted directly on canvas, without glazes, his giclee printing works are quickly gaining popularity. The giclees are printed on canvas via a state of the art $22,000 printer then heavily embellished with impasto painting, including painting of the canvas’s sides.
Mize’s original paintings sell from between $300 to $4,000, his giclees from $200 to $900, and his paper prints from $25 to $35.
